“Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.”
It is right and good to call Jesus our Lord, for He certainly is that. But what does it mean? “Lord” means supremacy or supreme in authority. Jesus is our Lord the minute we accept Him. “Lord” means bread provider, shield and protector.
It also means He can do what He wants to do, whenever He wants to do it. It’s one thing to call Jesus your Lord and another thing to yield to His Lordship in your daily living.
The Message Bible says: “You address me as ‘Teacher’ and ‘Master,’ and rightly so. That is what I am.”
Paul says in Colossians 2:6, “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.” It would be confusing to try to follow Jesus if we didn’t know what He wants from us or what He will do for us as the Lord of our life.
Thank God He didn’t leave us guessing. The Lord Jesus has given us His Word so we will know what He is doing and what He expects from us. It’s all written down for us. The Bible is the will of our Lord Jesus Christ. Walk in the Word and you will walk in His Lordship.
Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life. I receive Him and I walk in Him, by His Word.
