Jesus’ Works We Will Do

by Tim Davidson | Uncategorized

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to the Father.”

(John 14:12 NASB)

Jesus said that we would do the works that He did. What are some of the works Jesus did? We say He healed the sick, raised the dead, gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. We say He cast out evil spirits and repaired broken lives.

No. He always said that the Father was the one doing those things (John 14:10). Jesus just spoke words, touched people, and did very normal human things. God’s power did the rest.

The Message Bible says: “The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it.”

In the same manner we can do the same because we have been given the same Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the One who does the hard part: healing, delivering and saving. We just do the easy part: the preaching, the praying, and the believing.

Jesus never claimed the miracle part was His. We will claim that we didn’t do the miracle part either. It is the Holy Spirit confirming His Word through our simple faith and action.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

As I believe on Jesus, He empowers me to do works He did by the same Holy Spirit.
