Just a Thought on: Success

by Joe McGee | Uncategorized

In this “Just A Thought” message we’re focusing on the topic of “Success” and what the key to success is.

We all want to be successful — whether that is at our marriage, at our job, at school, in our family, in a hobby, etc.

No one starts out wanting to fail — we all desire to succeed at what we do.

The Word of God has much to say on this topic and even lays it out plain what we need to do to be successful.

What the Word Says:

Success : The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

  • Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) 8This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
  • Eccl. 10:10 (NKJV) But wisdom brings success.
  • Proverbs 8:14-21 (NLT) (WISDOM)Good advice and success belong to me. Insight and strength are mine.Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just laws. Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments. I love all who love me. Those who search for me will surely find me. Unending riches, honor, wealth, and justice are mine to distribute. My gifts are better than the purest gold, my wages better than sterling silver! I walk in righteousness, in paths of justice. Those who love me inherit wealth, for I fill their treasuries.
  • Proverbs 15:22 (NLT) Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many counselors bring success.
  • 2 Corinthians 3:5 (NLT) It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success come from God.
  • Proverbs 13:13 (NLT) People who despise advice will find themselves in trouble; those who respect it will succeed.
  • Proverbs 16:3 (NLT) Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed.
  • Proverbs 20:18 (NLT) Plans succeed through good counsel; don’t go to war without the advice of others.

The Summtion:

  • I will meditate in God’s Word making my way prosperous and have good success.
  • Wisdom brings success
  • Good advice and success comes from wisdom
  • Because I search for and find wisdom, unending riches, honor, wealth and justice are mine.
  • Because I love wisdom I inherit wealth and fill my treasuries (bank accounts)
  • Many counselors bring success
  • My only power and success come from God
  • Because I respect advice I succeed
  • Because I commit my works to God, my plans succeed
  • My plans succeed through good counsel

Personal Confession:
Heavenly Father I come to you in Jesus name and according to your word I thank you that:

  • You are my rock and my fortress and for your names sake you are leading me and guiding me (Ps 31:3)
  • You are instructing me and teaching me in the way I should go, you are guiding me with your eye (Ps 32:8)
  • You are ordering my steps and delighting in my way (Ps 37:23)
  • You have set my feet on a rock and have established my steps (Ps 40:2)
  • You have taught me in the way of wisdom and have led me in right paths. When I walk my steps will not be hindered and when I run I will not stumble. (Prov 4:11-12)
  • My heart is planning my way but you Lord are directing my steps (Prov. 16:9)
  • I all my ways I acknowledge You and you are directing my paths (Prov 3:6)
  • You have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my every thought when far away. You chart the path ahead of me and tell me when to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You both precede me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. (Ps 139:1-5)
  • I have the mind of Christ and the wisdom of God. (1 Cor 2:16; Eph 3:10)
  • I delight in your law and meditate in it day and night and whatever I do prospers (Ps 1:2-3)
  • Because I make you my refuge and my shelter, no evil will conquer me, no plague will come near my home, for you will order Your angels to protect me wherever I go. (Ps 91:9-11)
  • No weapon formed against me will prosper, and every tongue that rises against me you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. (Isa 54:17)

Let’s put God’s Word into action in our daily lives. Let’s meditate on His Word and start on our path to success.
