If defeating sin is a problem for you, it is important to understand what sin is and how it works against you. Then, you can apply the blood of Jesus and defeat this problem.
First of all, let’s define sin. Sin is anything that is opposed to the will or the Word of God. So, anything that is not of faith is sin. “But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin” (Rom. 14:23).
The Word of God says it is sin any time we doubt God, worry or fret because we don’t think He can handle our problems. “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith'” (Rom. 1:17).
Next, let’s define faith. If the just shall live by faith, then we need to know what faith is. Faith is the simple belief that God has done what He said He would do, and everything you say and do is based on that belief. That’s faith. So any time we don’t believe God has done what He said He would do, it’s sin.
Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
The thief wants to steal, kill, and destroy. The way he does that is by getting you to sin. When you sin, you’re turning your back on God and His protective power. Sin opens the door for the devil to come in and wreak havoc upon you and your family.
So, how do we stop this attack of sin? You choose to believe the Word of God. If God’s Word says He will heal you, but you don’t believe it, that’s sin. If God’s Word says He will deliver you but you don’t believe it, that’s sin. If God’s Word says He will prosper you, but you don’t believe it, that’s sin. In fact, when you don’t believe what God says, you are calling Him a liar. That is never faith. That is always sin.
