“The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”
All of us, who obey God’s commands and follow His plan will live and continue to abide in all the benefits of that union. As we let Jesus Christ be a home for us, a safe dwelling place, He, in turn, is completely at home in us. We stay one in our hearts with Him, and He stays one in His heart with us.
The Message Bible says: “As we keep his commands, we live deeply and surely in him, and he lives in us. And this is how we experience his deep and abiding presence in us: by the Spirit he gave us.”
The down payment God has given to us is His Spirit, which abides in us. We don’t ever have to wonder or worry whether or not God loves us and has saved us. We know because He has given to us His Spirit through our new birth in Christ.
He wouldn’t have His spirit dwell in an unholy or unredeemed heart. His abiding presence is proof enough. We are loved.
I know that I keep God’s commands by the Spirit that abides within me. Praise God.
