“And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”
When I was teaching school, I struck up a conversation with the school secretary. She told me no one could know for sure if they are going to make it to heaven or not ahead of time. She said all you can do is try hard and see if you make it.
I said that it would be too late if she waited till then. I then gave her today’s verse. If we have Jesus, we have His eternal life and we then know we make it in.
The Message Bible says: “This is the testimony in essence: God gave us eternal life; the life is in his Son.”
So many people in our modern, cyber age discount the above verse. They allow themselves the option of thinking that they can have eternal life and not have to deal with Jesus. To them, to think that you have to go only through Jesus is too narrow minded and intolerant.
But no matter which way you slice it, it still comes out the same. God has given us eternal life and this life comes to us from His Son.
I have eternal life because I have Jesus, God’s Son. So my future is bright.
