My Cornerstone

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“For this is contained in Scripture: ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone, and he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.'”

(1 Peter 2:6 NASB)

This quote—originally from Isaiah 28:16—is referring to Jesus Christ as the precious cornerstone. Jesus is the center and focal point of the entire work God does for humanity. Jesus is the chosen One, and He’s precious to God and also to man. The plan and work of redemption is totally God’s responsibility. But we have a part to play also.

The Message Bible says: “The Scriptures provide precedent: Look! I’m setting a stone in Zion, a cornerstone in the place of honor. Whoever trusts in this stone as a foundation will never have cause to regret it.”

Our part is to trust in Jesus. Trust means to have faith in, commit to, and totally rely upon. When we put our trust in Jesus, we will have strength and stability in our life. A cornerstone is the one the whole weight of the building rests upon. Jesus will bear the cares, struggles and the load of life for us. Just trust Him.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

God gave me Jesus to be the cornerstone of my life. I trust Him and I build on Him.
