Make Room For More

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking.”

(1 Peter 2:1)

The Bible is a book of balance. It tells of many things the Lord wants to bless His kids with and many impartations He desires to implant in our lives. On the other hand, in order to make room for all the new things, He asks us to get ready for it by removing some old, ugly things from our life package.

The Message Bible says: “So clean house! Make a clean sweep of malice and pretense, envy and hurtful talk.”

Start by putting away all bad behavior. Stop being hateful and get rid of all ill will towards anyone. Lay aside all trickery and envy. Reform your mouth by removing any evil talk or insulting language. Don’t be jealous or say cruel things about anybody.

As you do this, your load will get lighter and lighter. Your relationships will become healthier and healthier. You will be making room for your life to become more God-like in word and deed, in character and in temperament.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I want more God in my life, so I am going to let Him help me remove some old stuff.
