“And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me” (Acts 22:18).
God will even show you how to avoid danger. In Acts 22:17, we see that God gives Paul some instructions. God is involved with saving Paul from danger. He did it because, having spent time in prayer, Paul heard God speak to him and then acted on it.
Now, there is the power of the blood for deliverance. But deliverance from danger comes also from immediately obeying God.
I was driving on a main road in Detroit several years ago, on my way home. The spirit of God started dealing with me to go in a different direction. And my head got in the way, and I was thinking that this is the shortest way home. I’m tired. I had just come from counseling all day long.
I’m driving home and I know that I should not be going this way, but I continued along. I pulled up at the red light on 10 Mile Road and waited for the light to change. All this happened in a matter of seconds.
I saw across the street a car run over an object. And I saw whatever it was go up in the air turning like a boomerang and headed straight for my car. I can’t turn right. I can’t turn left and it’s coming right to my car aimed right at the bridge of my nose…and CRASH!
But something happened. The windshield shattered, and this piece of metal landed stuck in the steering column. It was as though something smacked it and changed its trajectory.
This is why God told me to take a different route home. He was trying to save me from danger and I wouldn’t listen. Now, if something had happened to me they would have said, “Why did God let that happen to him?”
It wouldn’t have been God letting it happen to me. It would be that I did not obey instantly the spirit of God. Now, I was just blessed that time. That thing would have killed me. I mean, the rate of speed that thing came through there and as heavy as it was, that would have been it for me.
So not only is there a sudden power of God to intervene in your life, you must also obey God suddenly. And when you obey God suddenly, then God will deliver you from danger suddenly.
