Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
When we give our hearts to Jesus we take unto ourselves the finished work of Jesus. His death was our death. His resurrection was our resurrection. His resurrection power is now ours. All we need to do is trust Him.
The Message Bible says: If it?s an initiation ritual you?re after, you?ve already been through it by submitting to baptism. Going under the water was a burial of your old life; coming up out of it was a resurrection, God raising you from the dead as he did Christ.
The concept at work here is that one is the representative for all others. So when Jesus went to the cross He went for all of us. If He would have failed we all would failed. But He didn?t fail. With His victory we all win over sin and death.
Jesus was my representative and has successfully conquered sin and death for me. I will live for Him.
