“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
Jesus tells us that the peace He gives is different than the peace the world presents. The world offers the peace that comes from temporary self-fulfillment. But the peace Jesus grants to us is peace of heart and peace of mind based on our relationship with Him, rather than a foundation centered on our own self.
The Message Bible says: “I’m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left–feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.”
Jesus said He gives us His own peace. Can you imagine Jesus sleepless at night because of worry about the future? Is He full of care? No, He is full of peace, because He has already secured the future and He already knows we win.
The very peace Jesus has is what you receive from Him. So don’t be worried, troubled, or fearful about anything. Receive the peace Jesus gives and have a trouble free heart.
I have the peace that Jesus has and I am not troubled or fearful about anything.
