Praying In the Spirit

by | The Anointed Word

“So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance” (Rom. 8:26 AMP).

Romans 8:26 is about prayer. We know that because it says that we don’t know what prayer to offer, nor how to offer it worthily to God. There are times that we just don’t know exactly how to pray for some of the things that come our way. But, as we pray in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit helps us to get it across to the Father effectively and accurately.

Now understand this, the Spirit does not pray. The Holy Spirit does not pray apart from us. The way the Holy Spirit can pray in the earth and it be legal for the Father to answer is that the Holy Spirit has to pray through us. That means that we are doing the praying, and He comes along and helps us.

The King James Version of the Bible says that the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God. An intercessor is one that stands in the gap. An intercessor is a go-between. What then causes the Holy Spirit to stand in the gap for us?

Praying in the Spirit is praying in other tongues. And praying in other tongues activates the ministry of the Holy Spirit. When we pray in other tongues (according to 1 Corinthians 14:2), He then comes to our aid and pleads on our behalf, thereby standing in the gap for us.

Now there are situations for which we don’t know how to pray. In order to pray 100 percent right you have to know a 100 percent of everything. And most of the time we don’t know 100 percent about the situation. We only know what we see. And what you see isn’t always the whole story.

Since we don’t know how to pray accurately, the Holy Spirit Himself makes intercession for us, when we do our part and pray in other tongues. And when the Holy Spirit gets involved He is getting the job done 100 percent according to the will of God.

Now that’s the kind of prayer we want. So, in your prayer time, know that the Holy Spirit is right there with you to get your prayers accurate, and to get the results of victory. When you are praying in the Spirit, you will begin to experience in your life all things cooperating and working together on your behalf to get to you your desired result.
