“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”
In the Old Testament, worshipers had to bring live animals to the altar to be killed and their blood shed to cover the sins of the person coming to worship God. But Jesus changed all that when He presented His body once and for all for our full redemption. Now we are asked to present our own bodies as a living contribution, holy and pleasing to God. This is the worship that is right for us to give Him.
The Message Bible says: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.”
God needs your physical presence and your physical obedience in order to use you. Give Him what He wants today. Place your outer life on the altar and so serve God.
I present my body as a living, holy sacrifice to God. It’s the sensible thing I can do.
