Sanctification And Honor

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“That each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.”

(1 Thess. 4:4 NASB)

Paul says here that each one of us must know how to control our own appetites and fleshly urges so we can live in devotion and honor to God and to ourselves. Love always honors. Love never fails. We end up failing ourselves when we don’t order our living around following the love of God.

The Message Bible says: “Learn to appreciate and give dignity to your body.”

We must not make the mistake of dishonoring God by dishonoring ourselves with low living. Jesus paid a great price for our separation from the world and He values each one of us highly. Jesus will never put down what He paid such a great price to lift up.

We mustn’t do it either. Don’t let your life be devalued and dishonored by agreeing with the enemy to live your life on the purely animalistic level of self-indulgence. We must let Him show us His love and honor so we will not live below dignity. We have been purchased for successful living. Life is awesome. Live it right.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I make choices today to live my life in sanctification and honor. I live with dignity and honor so my moral fiber will please God.
