Standing Firm

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”

(Eph. 6:13 NASB)

The armor of God protects us from harm and gives us an advantage over the enemy, who is endeavoring to put us down. We are able to resist the enemy’s attacks, wrestle to the end of the conflict, and still be holding our ground at the end of the day.

The Message Bible says: “Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.”

This verse says we are to “take up” this armor. Can you picture a knight who forgot to put on his shining armor when going out to fight the dragon? Well, of course not. A knight is so conscious of being a knight he would never forget to take up his armor. The same must be true about us. We are to be so aware of our union with Jesus that we would never forget it and fall prey to a defeated foe. I trust we remember always.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I take up the armor of my relationship with Jesus. I resist evil and take my stand.
