Suffering and Reigning

by | A Verse A Day

If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us.

(2 Tim. 2:12 KJV)

The word “suffer” here means to stay under or to put up with trials, to have fortitude, and to endure patiently. Jesus endured a lot of uncomfortable things for us, yet He never complained or turned from them. He loved us too much to fail us. Now it is our turn to love Him so much we won’t fail Him either.

The Message Bible says: If we stick it out with him, we’ll rule with him; If we turn our backs on him, he’ll turn his back on us.

Stick it out with Jesus. Follow Him faithfully to the end. As we walk in His love we will reign with Him. To “reign” means to be a co-ruler with Jesus. We have supernatural support and vigor in our walk with Jesus. If we don’t give up, we will rule with Him. If we deny that we know Him, He will deny that He knows us. Jesus is your best friend, so stay faithful and true to Him.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Even when I suffer trials along the path in my walk with Jesus I will stay true to Him. I reign with Jesus and He empowers me.

My Life Is Over

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Col. 3:3 KJV) If we have died with Christ and have been raised with Him, we certainly don’t have any identity of our own to preserve. All of our human efforts to embellish our standing with God or...
