There is a name that just on an average day, you may say at least a dozen times. That name you read about or you can hear about, that name is seen in magazines, seen on television, heard on the radio, probably pick it up most anywhere on the Internet.
Just today, you’ve probably already said that name. Many times. And yet one out of three people in the world have never heard it and it’s the name of Jesus.
Most of the people that have never heard about Jesus live in what we would call a window of the world located at 10 degrees and 40 degrees latitude, north latitude of the equator. If you looked on a globe, this window stretches from North Africa across the map to Japan and it includes the Middle East, central and south Asia, Southeast Asia and China and the Far East.
There are approximately 6.2 to 6.3 billion people in the earth. Two thirds of that world population, 4 billion live in the 67 nations of the 10/40 window.
It is estimated that at least from 1.6 to 1.7 billion have never had the opportunity or the chance to hear the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ?not even once. Yet every single soul was purchased by the blood of Jesus, bought and paid for by Jesus.
Of the 70 percent of those in the 10/40 window, that are 35 years of age and under, 70 percent of them are children under the age of 15, numbering two billion.
There is a difference between unreached people and unsaved people. Somebody unsaved has heard the Gospel. Somebody unreached is living in an area of the world where they will live and they will die and never know that Jesus exists.
Let’s be the ones that make it possible for these people to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We can do our part by praying for the nations, supporting someone else to go financially, or going on a mission trip personally.

On the chilly March night in 1972 when Lynne Hammond took her first step into a life of Spirit-led prayer, she had no idea what was about to happen. All she knew was the hunger in her heart for God wouldn’t let her sleep. In the few short months she’d been born again, her desire to fellowship with Him had grown so strong she could hardly contain it. “Help me, God!” she cried. “I want to know you. I want to be able to talk to you. Please, teach me to pray!”
Suddenly, a heavenly presence flooded the room. Lynne sensed waves of spiritual fire sweeping over her and a beautiful language began to flow like a river from within her. Although she’d never heard of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, she knew instantly, without a doubt—this was God!
What began that night soon blossomed into a life of prayer that ultimately became a ministry of prayer when, in 1980, Lynne and her husband, Mac, founded Living Word Christian Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Under Lynne’s leadership, the prayer ministry at Living Word has become an internationally recognized model for developing effective pray-ers in the local church.
A teacher and an author, Lynne publishes a newsletter called Prayer Notes, has written numerous books, and currently serves as the national prayer director for Daughters for Zion. Her passion for inspiring and leading others into the life of Spirit-led prayer continues to take her around the world to minister to believers whose heart cry, like hers, is “Lord, teach me to pray!”
