The Creation of Light

by Larry Ollison | The Cutting Edge

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
(John 6:63)

In the beginning God spoke and said, “Let there be light.” Genesis 1:3 says, “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” It’s interesting that Jesus said, “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father because the Father and I are One.” First John 1:5 says that God is light. The question is this. If God is light, how could He speak and create light?

In the beginning when God spoke and created everything that was created, He created everything with His Word. John 1:1 tells us that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Then in John 1:14 we are told that the Word became flesh. Jesus was the Word that God spoke in the beginning. In Him was life and the life that was in Him was the “light of men.” Then, it goes on to say that everything that was made was made by the Word of God and interestingly, not only was everything made by the Word of God, but everything was made for the Word of God.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
(Col. 1:16)

So let’s look at this truth. God is light and God spoke the Word and everything was made through the Word and for the Word. The Word became flesh and is Jesus. In Him (Jesus) was the light of men and the words that Jesus spoke were spirit and they were life. Jesus said “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father because the Father and I are one.”

God spoke the Word and in His Word was light, life, spirit, and creation. The Word He spoke was Jesus and the words of Jesus were spirit and life. They created and they illuminated.

Jesus said that those who believed in Him would do the same things that He did. And not only would they do the same things, but they would do greater things. I propose this to you. If we are going to do the same things Jesus did, we must do them the same way Jesus did. Jesus said that He never said anything unless the Father had spoken it first. We, likewise, must not say anything that does not align with God’s Word. Only when our words are a repetition of God’s Word, will our words carry the power that’s needed to change the world. We must be ambassadors for the Kingdom of God. The ambassador of a country does not speak and promote his own agenda. He only carries the message from the homeland and when he does this, all the power of the homeland is behind him.

When talking to believers Jesus said for them to let their light shine in such a way that their good works would be exposed and that the Father would be glorified. The words of Jesus were spirit and life. When you speak His Word, your words contain spirit and life. They will create and they will illuminate.

By the way, the answer to the question is this. In God’s kingdom, everything reproduces after its own kind.
