Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
Deuteronomy 11:18

Many Christians today don’t think Jesus would ever call them to go to the other side of the world to preach the Gospel. But He will because He is looking over this earth and seeing a world harvest that must be reaped—fast! And the whole Church all over the world must take part in gathering that harvest.

Ever believer has a part.

Right now, however, many are just sitting on the sidelines. They are just going to church, raising their hands when the worship leader tells them to, and doing whatever the minister says to do like little puppets. They’re curious about the move of the Spirit and what God might want to do with their lives but they don’t know much about it.

Other believers are hungry for the glory, their spirits are calling for it, but because they’ve never been taught about it, they don’t know what they’re calling for. They just sense a yearning in their spirits for the presence and power of Jesus. Their inner fire has already been kindled. It may not be as hot as it needs to be, but it’s there.

What the Lord wants to do right now is to unify all of us—the faintly curious, the hungry, and the weary prayer warriors who have let their passion slip. He wants to bring everybody together and set us all on fire with fresh desire for the glory of God.

How will He do it? He will do it with the Word.

He is going to get us doing what the Israelites did. They bound the promises of the Bible on their hands and on their heads. They talked to each other about it day and night—and we’re going to do the same thing.

We’re going to start saying, “The glory is coming!” We’re going to start believing with our hearts and confessing it with our mouths, day and night, that Jesus is manifesting Himself to us and through us. We’ll say, “The glory is coming to this church. The glory is coming to this state. The glory is coming to this nation. The glory is coming to this world!”

We’ll pray for it, confess it, believe it, and fight for it until what we’ve seen in the Word and in our hearts comes to pass before our very eyes. We’ll keep our inner fire burning until it sets the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ on fire once again with the fullness of the glory of God.

On the chilly March night in 1972 when Lynne Hammond took her first step into a life of Spirit-led prayer, she had no idea what was about to happen. All she knew was the hunger in her heart for God wouldn’t let her sleep. In the few short months she’d been born again, her desire to fellowship with Him had grown so strong she could hardly contain it. “Help me, God!” she cried. “I want to know you. I want to be able to talk to you. Please, teach me to pray!”

Suddenly, a heavenly presence flooded the room. Lynne sensed waves of spiritual fire sweeping over her and a beautiful language began to flow like a river from within her. Although she’d never heard of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, she knew instantly, without a doubt—this was God!

What began that night soon blossomed into a life of prayer that ultimately became a ministry of prayer when, in 1980, Lynne and her husband, Mac, founded Living Word Christian Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Under Lynne’s leadership, the prayer ministry at Living Word has become an internationally recognized model for developing effective pray-ers in the local church.

A teacher and an author, Lynne publishes a newsletter called Prayer Notes, has written numerous books, and currently serves as the national prayer director for Daughters for Zion. Her passion for inspiring and leading others into the life of Spirit-led prayer continues to take her around the world to minister to believers whose heart cry, like hers, is “Lord, teach me to pray!”
