The Great Eternal Shepherd

by | A Verse A Day

“Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord.”

(Heb. 13:20 NASB)

God desires us to be at peace with Him and also with everyone else. We can do that when we realize that Jesus has secured our future, forgiven our past, and guides our present. With all that, why would we bother to fuss about any daily mundane details that really don’t add up to a hill of beans?

The Message Bible says: “May God, who puts all things together, makes all things whole, Who made a lasting mark through the sacrifice of Jesus, the sacrifice of blood that sealed the eternal covenant, Who led Jesus, our Great Shepherd, up and alive from the dead….”

Jesus is our shepherd and we will never want for any good thing as long as He’s in charge. How long will that be? This verse shows us that He is our great shepherd for eternity. And that’s long enough for me.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Jesus is my great shepherd and I’m at peace with God and well taken care of for eternity.
