The Helmet Of Salvation

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

(Eph. 6:17)

The helmet of salvation is fundamental for every Christian. It is essential for us all to have the knowledge of our salvation to cover our mind and thought life. The enemy throws doubts our way, but we are fully protected by the indwelling presence of Jesus Christ. Without it, we reel under the relentless accusations of the enemy.

The Message Bible says: “Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued…faith and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life….”

The helmet protected the head of the Roman soldier, the most vital part of his body. His head was protected from life threatening blows by the helmet. Let God’s saving power be like a helmet.

Receive the salvation God offers through Jesus and you also will be equipped to survive all the death-dealing blows the devil throws at you. Being saved, and knowing that you are saved, is the best head covering of all.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I take the helmet of my salvation and I guard my mind and thought life against doubts and confusion that come against me today.

Not Of Works

"Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Eph. 2:9) God saves us by His grace working through faith. The grace and the faith, as well as God's decision to save us, all comes from God as a gift. Therefore it isn't of us. It isn't something we have earned, or that...
