The Manifestation Of The Spirit

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

(1 Cor. 12:7 NASB)

The Spirit of God has given each of us a particular way of serving others. This service is for the common good of all in the Body of Christ. The form of the Spirit’s working, in and through each of us, varies and will represent different portions of God’s total will and purpose. This is called the manifestation of the Spirit.

The Message Bible says: “Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people!”

“Manifestation” means an exhibition or expression. It is the ability God gives us to display and show forth the Holy Spirit’s presence in what we are doing. Just to get the task done isn’t it. The manifestation of the Spirit is in showing God’s hand on us as we get the task done.

When we let Him work through us like that, everyone benefits. All see that God is alive and well on planet Earth. God is glorified in that.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

The manifestation of God’s Spirit is given so others can see the reality of God in me.
