The Sword of the Spirit

by Spencer Nordyke | Uncategorized

Have you ever had something in your life that visibly affects you in the spirit realm and you know it?

Spending time in prayer is spending time with God and being with Him and learning to practice His presence in your spirit is one of the most important things you can do as a believer. Why? Because spending time with Him changes you.

Have you ever had something in your life that visibly affects you in the spirit realm and you know it? That when someone mentions a persons name or a particular situation it creates commotion or chaos in your spirit and you react by either shutting down, getting mad or by wanting to cry?

Usually when we point this out to people they know it but they do not know what to do about it because they have not spent time asking God what to do about the hurts and wounds they still carry or they have just blocked out their feelings.

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow[of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
(Hebrews 4:12 AMP)

1st part of the two-edge sword: You pray and ask God why you react to this situation and He lovingly shows you what it is and the healing begins.

Then as you are reading your Bible and spending time with the Father, He drops a scripture verse into your heart or you study and look up a scripture verse that fits this situation, write it down and meditate on it.

2nd part of the two-edge sword: You begin to use your faith by confessing and speaking this scripture out loud and you start to pray it over this situation. You have come into agreement with the Word of God and it begins to penetrate the deepest part of your nature, healing your heart and filling you with His love.

That is why we are have the Sword of the Spirit as part of our armor, to use it to change situations and circumstances. We just need to swing the two-edged sword more and get it working for us in both directions, because the Word of God changes the things that come against us, both inside and out
