“He who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him” (John 14:21 NKJ).
This is a very intimate promise. It speaks to those who want more than a shallow, superficial relationship with the Lord. As I travel, I meet precious saints of God everywhere who say they want more out of life than what they are now experiencing.
They have a yearning for a deeper, closer spiritual relationship with the Lord than what their church is able to provide. They are on a personal quest for “more” of the Lord. I pray that you, too, will sense that yearning and embark on that quest.
In this verse, Jesus is promising that to those who truly hunger and thirst for Him, He will manifest Himself personally. This manifestation is more than a conversion experience. It is even more than a baptism with the Holy Spirit. In addition to all these beautiful and dynamic encounters with the Lord, He is promising each of us a personal visitation.
In the original Greek text, this word translated manifest is emphanizo (em-fan-id’-zo). It is a verb meaning “to disclose by appearance.” Literally, it could be interpreted as “to shine within,” “to exhibit plainly,” or “to appear openly.” All you need to receive such a disclosure is a heart-hunger for more of Jesus and His power and love. He will meet you in an individual way.
Blessed are you who hunger and thirst for righteousness. You shall be visited – and soon!
