The Umbrella

by Beth Jones | Uncategorized

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
(Ps. 37:25 NIV)

What a time to be living under the umbrella of God’s economy, rather than the world’s financial system! If you are Christian, living under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and cooperating with God’s economic laws, you can and should be greatly encouraged in the midst of financial turmoil. You won’t be begging for bread! Why?

God has promised to meet all of your needs through His riches in Christ. What assurance do you have? Malachi 3 is your umbrella. Listen to what the Lord said thousands of years ago,

Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts; “and all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the LORD of hosts.
(Mal. 3:10-13 NKJV)

If you’ve laid up treasures in heaven through giving your financial tithes to the local church and offerings to the work of God, you can take comfort in the fact that under His umbrella, God has promised to meet your needs. (As an fyi for those that may not know what the “tithe or offerings” are, here are the definitions: the “tithe” is 10% of a person’s income and an “offering” is a gift of any amount/value.) You will not be begging bread. The Lord promises to open the windows of heaven upon you and He has promised to rebuke the devourer for your sake. What does that mean? It means that under God’s umbrella…

—The Lord will “open the windows of heaven” to provide you with opportunities, favor, increase and advantages.

—The Lord will “rebuke the devourer” – He’ll protect your investments and give you wisdom on how to recoup any losses.

—The Lord will give you wisdom on how to steward your wealth, manage your debt/credit and increase your assets and cash reserves.

—The Lord will give you insight on how and where to invest for increase and profit in this opportune time.

—The Lord will give you the knowledge of witty inventions.

—The Lord will supernaturally provide for your needs, if necessary.

As believers, this is no time to be in fear, panic or turmoil; but rather this is the time to be full of faith, courage and wisdom as we trust the Lord and operate according to His economic laws.

Prayer: Father, I trust You. You know my track record as a tither and one who has given generously to Your Church and Kingdom and I thank You that I am living under the umbrella of Your economy and You promise to meet all of my needs according to Your riches in glory. I thank You for opening the windows of heaven for me and pouring out blessings on me. I thank You for rebuking the devourer for my sake. I thank You that I am not dominated by the world’s economic system; but I am fully vested in Your economy. I ask You for continued faith, courage and wisdom!

(In the event, you have not followed or obeyed the Lord by operating according to His economic laws, say this.) “Father, I repent and I ask You to forgive me. I have trusted in my money more than I have trusted in You. I make a decision today to “prove You” and get in alignment with Your economic laws. As I begin to tithe and give offerings to Your Church and Kingdom purposes, I ask You for your mercy, grace and wisdom in my finances. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
