And a certain woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.
When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak.
(Mark 5:25-27)
She came behind Him in the crowd and she touched his garment. For she said, “If only I can just touch His clothes…I shall be made well.”
And immediately her bleeding was dried up. Jesus, knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and He said these words: “Who touched me?”
But His disciples said, “You see the multitude thronging you and getting all around you, and you ask, ‘Who touched you?'” Jesus looked around to see the one who had done this.
The woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down in front of the Messiah, and she worshiped before Him and told Him she had been the one to touch Him. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
Here is a woman whom Scripture says had lived her life for 12 years chained by physical infirmity. She spent all that she had…everything that she possessed…she had exhausted her money.
She had gone to every physician that she knew. But the prognosis was the same: There is nothing that we can do for you…It was hopeless. She was chained.
Maybe your life is in a hopeless cul-de-sac, or you’ve gone down one dead-end street after another. Maybe you’ve gone to every doctor or every psychiatrist…you’ve spent everything you have in your possession.
Maybe you’ve done everything you know to do….and the only thing that your doctor, or your friend, or your buddies, or your religion, or your preacher can say to you is: It’s hopeless. You are chained in your dilemma.
But, she went to Him chained.
And with one touch she was changed.
Then she was claimed.
Pray this prayer with me:
Oh Lord, I want change in my life. I am tired of status quo…I am tired of the mundane…change me. I want to be what you want me to be. In Jesus Name, Amen.
