Walk In The Light

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

(1 John 1:7 NASB)

The word “light” means to shine or to make manifest or visible. It comes from the word to illuminate. When we walk with God, we walk in the bright illumination of His countenance and therefore see the difference between Jesus and ourselves. It’s like the sun and the moon. One has its own light and the other is only a reflection of that light. We are to reflect God’s glory to a lost and dying world.

The Message Bible says: But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God’s Son, purges all our sin.

An effect of us walking in the light with Jesus is that we have all kinds of things in common with everyone else who is walking in the light. Our fellowship isn’t just with Jesus; it is with one another also. That makes for an exciting journey.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I walk in the light as Jesus is in the light and I have fellowship with others along the way.
