“At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”
Jesus was telling His disciples that there was coming a day when they would know that He is one with the Father. He also said that we would know that we are one with Him, and He is one with us. God is the author of oneness. We are in Christ by the new birth and Christ is in God and God is in us.
The Message Bible says: “At that moment you will know absolutely that I’m in my Father, and you’re in me, and I’m in you.”
It’s very important that we know this. Too many Christians don’t understand the length God has gone to bring them into this oneness with Him. The blood of His Son was the price He paid.
If we live and conduct ourselves in ways that diminish this reality we are contributing to the conflict, rather than the cure. We have been brought to oneness with God so we can do His will by His power for His glory.
I am one with Jesus even as He is one with the Father for the purpose of doing His will.
