“And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
We have a lot of things in our experiences that are far from the will of God. These are both in what we have done and also in what was done to us by others. But now the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of His Spirit have washed us and made us righteous and acceptable to God.
The Message Bible says: “A number of you know from experience what I’m talking about, for not so long ago you were on that list. Since then, you’ve been cleaned up and given a fresh start by Jesus, our Master, our Messiah, and by our God present in us, the Spirit.”
We are like fish. We don’t catch ourselves and we certainly don’t clean ourselves up. Jesus is the great fisher of men and He is the one who has found us and He, by His Spirit, is making our lives worth living to the max.
I was lost but Jesus found me and has washed me and set me apart for His use.
