“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel” (Heb. 12:24 KJV).
You will read here six things that are living right now in heaven. The first thing, we find is a company of angels that are too numerous to count. The Bible tells us what they do there. One thing they are doing is flying around the throne worshipping God.
Secondly, there is the church of the firstborn. Who are they? They are the redeemed church. They are the church that has been washed in the blood of Jesus. There are many that are there. That is why you should not feel the least bit sad when a believer has gone home to be with the Lord. I am telling you they are having a grand and glorious time, better than they ever had on this earth.
Who else is in heaven? God is there, of course. He is God the ultimate judge of all. Also we find “…the spirits of just men made perfect.” Well those are the spirits of the righteous, who have reached perfection, the Old Testament saints. When they died before Jesus shed His blood, they didn’t go to heaven because they where not cleansed. Therefore, they had to go to a place called Abraham’s bosom.
When Jesus was raised from the dead He went to those who were there waiting on the coming of the Messiah and let them know that the Messiah has come. Upon receiving Him they then went to heaven having been made perfect through receiving Jesus as Lord.
Well what else do we have in heaven? Of course, Jesus is there. He is Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant. Jesus Himself is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
And then there is a sixth entity that is in heaven. It is the blood of sprinkling that speaks of better things than that of Able. That blood is on the mercy seat. First John 5:8 tells us that the blood witnesses on earth. I also want you to know the blood is still witnessing in heaven as well.
The blood speaks unto God. But notice that Abel’s blood was different than Jesus blood. You may recall that Abel’s blood was speaking for revenge, justice and vengeance. But Jesus’ blood was speaking out love, forgiveness and mercy.
The blood of Jesus is there in heaven now on the mercy seat. And it is still crying out unto the Father’s love, forgiveness, and mercy for you and me.
