I believe that all good people will go to Heaven. I also don’t believe that the Bible is the only source of eternal life. Yet, I still enjoy it and use it as a source of wisdom. Why do so many fundamental Christians disagree with me?
A fundamental Christian believes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
…and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Tim. 3:15-17 NKJ)… knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
(2 Peter 1:20-21 NKJ)
If the Bible is the inspired Word of God, then we must take what it says very seriously. In our opinion, it is God speaking to us! The Bible tells us that good works alone are not enough for a man or a woman to make it to heaven.
Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
(John 14:5-7 NIV)
To understand the Bible, and have the faith that a fundamental or Bible-believing Christian does, you must meet and truly know the Author (Acts 9:1-21).
