“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.”
What day was Jesus talking about in this verse? I believe He was referring to the day when we would be brought into right relationship with the Father by the new birth. Up until that time people couldn’t approach God because of the sin in their lives. But by the finished work of Calvary, Jesus saved us and made this day possible. Today is the day that the Father will give us whatever we ask for in Jesus’ name.
The Message Bible says: “You’ll no longer be so full of questions. This is what I want you to do: Ask the Father for whatever is in keeping with the things I’ve revealed to you.”
Jesus gave us the right to use His name in prayer. When we pray to the Father in the name of Jesus, it is as though Jesus was doing the asking. We are now both welcomed in heaven and heard. So ask in Jesus’ name and the Father will do it.
In this day, the Father will give me whatever I ask of Him in Jesus’ name.
