“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.”
The reference in the margin of my Bible next to this verse says, “Have the faith of God.” It would be one thing to be told to have faith in God. It is entirely different when we are told to have the faith of God. That is exactly what Jesus was saying to us here. Have the faith of God. Get it from Him. Have the same faith that God has and uses on our behalf all the time.
The Message Bible says: “Jesus was matter-of-fact: ‘Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it.'”
Does God tell us to have His faith and then not provide a way for us to have it? No, that would be unfair. God sends us His Word and by that Word faith comes to us. Words are containers. They convey what’s in them. God’s Words are like buckets loaded with faith. Picture each Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God as dripping with His faith. All we must do is take His Word and His faith is ours.
I have faith in God. I have the very same faith that God has. He gave His to me.
