Empowered For The Impossible

by Vikki Burke | Enriching Life Daily

Grace is God’s empowering within our hearts to do what we cannot do alone. When problems or insufficiency seem to stand in our way like a mountain, His grace keeps us strong and moving ahead into His perfect plan.

Faith in God removes the mountains.

Grace keeps the mountains from moving us.

This grace from God can grow and even multiply in our hearts. Second Peter 3:18 tells us to grow in grace. Peter also begins both of his epistles with the prayer that grace would be multiplied unto his readers (1 Peter 1:2; 2 Peter 1:2). Then James 4:6 tells us, “…He giveth more grace” (KJV).

We must activate and develop the grace God gives us. The prophet said he would shout “Grace, grace,” to the mountain. When we increase in grace on the inside, a greater influence can flow out from us to change external circumstances. First we are changed; then we can bring change to situations in this natural realm.

The influence of truth from God’s Word will create the power to bring change. However, it is not truth alone that brings change, but rather truth that has become a part of our lives. A.W. Tozer said it this way: “Truth that is not experienced is no better than error, and just as dangerous.” We find the answer to how truth becomes a part of our lives in John chapter 1:

In Him Jesus was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it …. And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
(John 1:4-5,16-17 NKJV)

Notice the contrast in verse 17 between the Law given by Moses and the truth that came by the Lord Jesus. Although the Law was truth, it produced no power for those who lived under the Law. The people were helpless to fulfill the Law because of the strength of sin within them.

However, within the truth Jesus brought was the power to live in the revealed truth. Now all who receive Jesus as their Savior will receive His grace, given to empower them to fulfill all the divine requirements of the New Covenant.

Truth without grace brings only law — devoid of the necessary power to live in the truth. Truth accompanied by grace gives us the freedom to experience the great promises of God’s laws working in us and through us. When we do God’s work His way, we will see fruit that remains. If we try to do His will and His work in our own strength rather than by His grace, we will fail to obtain the results He has promised.
