Filled With Plenty

The prophet Ezekiel shed further light on the principle of giving. Notice Ezekiel 44:30: “The best of all firstfruits of any kind, and every sacrifice of any kind from all your sacrifices, shall be the priest’s; also you shall give to the priest the first of your ground meal, to cause a blessing to rest on your house” (NKJV).

He said when they gave the priests the best of their firstfruits, their giving would cause the blessing to rest on their houses.

Proverbs 3:9-10 goes on to give us details about how this blessing would come: “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine” (NKJV).

Filled with plenty and overflowing! God is looking for ways to bring His overflow and abundance into our lives. He wants there to be such a supply of wealth and every good thing that it is flowing out from us in every direction. He wants us to be a resource of increase to those around us.

Whatever we do to make God’s dream in others become reality, God will do to make His dream in us become reality.

Every person must learn the system God has given to us. It is to enter into the abundance of God by giving and blessing those who are blessed of God. According to the Scripture, both the work of ministry and the worker are worthy to be blessed.

Jesus tells us exactly what can be expected when we obey Him by giving. He says, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38 NKJV).

The return on what we give is determined by the measure or amount we give. According to this verse, we can always expect to receive back more than what we give away.

Another example of blessing the blessed is found in the life of Job. Before Satan’s attack against him, he was the richest man in the east. When Job remained faithful to God in the midst of every attack, there was nothing Satan could do to prevent Job from increasing. The result was that Job was blessed with twice as much as he previously owned. Now notice from Job 42:10-11 what the results of Job’s faithfulness to God were:

And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.
(Job 42:10-11 NKJV)

Though Job was the richest man in the east, and now possessed twice as much as before, people were compelled to give him gold and silver. They blessed the blessed.
