“For exaltation (promotion) comes neither from the east nor the west nor from the south” (Ps. 75:6).
This verse came to me when I was working in a group of men doing road construction. The foreman told me I would never be promoted as long as he was in charge. He harbored hostility toward all Christians and bluntly stated, “We don’t give promotion to milk drinkers, only beer drinkers.”
That left me out. When the promotion lists were posted on the bulletin board, my name was always notably absent.
I knew that I qualified for promotion, but I also knew that I was being purposely passed over because of the foreman’s antagonism toward me. It was at that time that the Lord gave me this scripture as a promise.
If you will notice closely, the word “north” does not appear in this verse. As Christians, our promotion will ultimately come from the north. Look up the word north in the concordance and Bible commentary and you will find that it has a great deal of future import (Isa. 14:13).
When time runs out for this earth, you and I will say with the redeemed of all ages: “Our promotion came from the north from whence came our Savior to take us away.”
It was also during this time in my life that I received a visitation from the Lord. He imparted to me the ability to give “precious promises” to people by divine revelation. I didn’t get a raise in salary, but I did receive a spiritual “boon.” That should be no surprise: this verse tells us that our promotion always comes from the Lord.
