Great Love

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”

(1 John 3:1 NASB)

Great love is a lot of love. That’s what the Father God has for all of us who are born again. He calls us His children. That means He takes automatic care of us. He doesn’t have to think it over before assisting us or coming to our rescue.

The Message Bible says: “What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are. But that’s also why the world doesn’t recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who he is or what he’s up to.”

Sometimes we are the ones who struggle with the thought that God really loves us. We get to thinking about ourselves and what we have done, or not done, and feel that maybe God couldn’t include us in this great love. Don’t look at yourself. Look at God’s Word and trust He isn’t telling a lie. He has great love for you.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I am greatly loved by God today because I am one of His kids and He loves me.

Pruning

"Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit." (John 15:2 NASB) Jesus will cut away every component of our life that doesn't generate fruit. He also trims back every limb...
