Pruned By The Word

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“You are already clean because of the word, which I have spoken to you.”

(John 15:3 NASB)

We know that God has promised to prune the unfruitful branches of our life, but how does He do it? Jesus says that the words He speaks will do it. The Word of God is sharp and powerful and it cuts to the core in all areas of our life concerning the flesh, soul and spirit.

The Word is a two-edged sword that severs the bad stuff from the good stuff, so we will have more room for even more good stuff.

The Message Bible says: “You are already pruned back by the message I have spoken.”

The teachings Jesus has given us cover all the essentials of Christian living. What He has said about purpose, value, morality, and relationships is to be the driving energy of our walk. We are made clean and acceptable in the eyes of God because we have already heeded His Word and been born again.

So doesn’t it stand to reason He will continue injecting us with His life transforming words? Yes He will.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

The Word of God is at work within me. It is cleansing me, pruning me for effective Christian living.
