He Will Give You Rest

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”

(Matt. 11:28 NASB)

In the turmoil and pressure of living in this struggling world, it is easy to find ourselves tired and weighted down with cares and concerns of the day. Family members, job stresses, and emotional issues give a plethora of opportunities to wear us out. Thank God Jesus said we could come to Him with our entire burden attached and He will give us rest.

The Message Bible says: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.”

Jesus, our Great Shepherd, makes us lie down in green pastures; he leads us beside still waters. Jesus will help us make sense of the crazy world we live in and will wash away the stress and strain. Jesus will always lift the burden if we will but give it to Him. Are you tired of carrying heavy loads? Come to Jesus and He will let you put your feet up in quiet stillness of soul.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I come to Jesus with all my burdens and cares. He gives me peace and quiet rest.
