The Word Saves Our Minds

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.”

(James 1:21 NASB)

Our soul is our mind, will, and emotions. The way God works on it is to send us His Word. For this reason, we must put away all sullied behavior and the baggage of iniquity that goes with it. We are told to take into our mind the implanted word, which being deposited there is able to give us the salvation of our soul.

The Message Bible says: “So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.”

Humbly accept the word that God has given to you. Let your mind, will, and emotions flow with the ideas God presents to you in your new life in Christ. Let God’s Word weed out the weeds in the garden of your thought life, establishing you in the fruitful kingdom of God. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly today.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I receive the implanted Word of God into my thought life and it saves my soul.
