“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
Do you ever get caught up in the rat race and end up thinking it’s all about you, and your welfare, and your comfort, and your convenience? If you do, you’re not alone. But Jesus has laid down His life for us because He thought more about us than His own ease. He has given the example. We are expected to follow it.
The Message Bible says: “This is how we’ve come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves.”
We ought to willingly lay down our lives, our ways, our choices, and our perks for the welfare of the brethren. God gave all that we have to us.
We ourselves have been bought with a price and we are not our own. Seeing that this is all true, is it not reasonable that the One who did this for us would get our complete cooperation in return? It boils down to this: it’s not about you.
Jesus loves me and laid His life down for me. I’ll do the same for others today.
