Let Freedom Ring

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”

(Gal. 5:1 NASB)

Winston Churchill’s remark, “Never have so few given so much for so many” can be applied to all generations of Americans who served in military combat from the American Revolution to the current conflict. The blood of American soldiers has always paid the price for our freedom.

The Message Bible says: “Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.”

America’s example of paying the price for freedom reminds me of Jesus Christ. Jesus has set us free from sin so that we may enjoy the benefits of our freedom. We must remember to walk in the truth that Jesus paid for it with His blood.

Just as so many soldiers in so many generations have fought for our freedom, so we must also be willing to sacrifice for the liberty that Jesus has provided. Salvation may be free, but being a true disciple of Jesus costs us much. Let freedom ring.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Jesus Christ has set me free from sin’s yoke of bondage. I will walk as a disciple of Jesus no matter what the cost.
