“For this is the will of God, your sanctification….”
Sanctification is the process God uses to impart His nature and ability to us, so we are separated from sin and the world and set apart for pure and consecrated living. It is God’s will that we keep away from sexual sin and other worldly defilement. Our separation from such things is a mark of our devotion to God. We love God and therefore we yield to His influence rather than the influence of our flesh.
The Message Bible says: “God wants you to live a pure life….”
Many people mistakenly hold the view that a separated life, one reserved for God’s use, would be a boring, old fashioned, out of date life with no enjoyment attached. That isn’t what God has in mind for us. He knows that real, fun filled adventure, and a purpose driven lifestyle is the ultimate goal we can hold for ourselves.
In all God’s omnipotent wisdom, He knows that living a separated life from sin and selfishness is the only real way to fulfill our own heart’s desires. Sin takes us farther than we ever planned to go, but Jesus gives true meaning to life. So bring it on, Jesus.
My separation from sin and the flesh is God’s will for my life. I’m happier that way.
