Your children will sin. They will fail and disappoint you, because they are human—just like you are. But don’t dwell on the bad. Forgive as God forgives. Discipline them the way that God disciplines you—with respect and love.
Let’s look at Psalm 103:8-14 from The New International Version. It tells us how to treat our children:
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
(Ps. 103:8-14)
Tell Your Children That They Are Winners in Jesus Christ
The world compares one person with another. It decides who the winners are and who the losers are. Even in our schools, children must complete with each other for grades, honors and activities.
But, we don’t have to compete for God’s love and attention. He loves us just the way we are. We all fall short in one area or another. We all have weaknesses and strengths.
But God accepts us for who we are and pronounces us “Winners!” And that’s what your Children need to hear. When the world rejects them and puts them down, keep telling them that they are winners in Jesus Christ.
