The Best is Yet to Come

by Dick Mills | The Spirit Filled Believer

“Although your beginning may seem small, He will make your later years very great” (Job 8:7).

This verse promises us a good, vigorous, productive, fruitful, and expanding future. It is an assurance that God can do great things with our lives no matter how insignificant our beginnings. History records the success of many famous people who began life in the most humble of settings. One of these is the Lord Jesus Christ.

There is something about life that challenges people to raise their level of desire and expectation. The story of our own Christian lives actually begins with us deep in sin. Then salvation lifts us up out of the muck and sets our feet on the firm rock of the Son of God. Sanctification replaces our filthy garments of pride and self-righteousness with the dazzling white robes of His righteousness.

The Holy Spirit gives us the power to run the race of life that is set before us and to gain the victory in the good fight of faith. At the close of the battle, we are each given a wedding garment. The story ends with us – the Bride of Christ – being enthroned with Him next to the Father (Rev. 3:21).

Our beginning can be compared to a mustard seed – small and insignificant. Our ending is centered in the universal acclaim of Jesus as Lord of the whole creation.

Christians have so much to look forward to. Our best days are yet to come!
