The Secret to Great Peace

by | The Cutting Edge

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them” (Ps. 119:165).

Several years ago I sat in a seminar with a very well known speaker. The seminar was on organization and how to develop organizational skills in your life and in your office.

He started the seminar by explaining how people mess up their lives, mess up their office, mess up their work schedules and keep clutter all around them. After over an hour of hearing about how I had cluttered my life, we had a break.

While we were all drinking coffee and eating donuts, we discussed how cluttered our lives were. We laughed, we teased and I was very anxious to find out how to unclutter my life.

When the seminar continued, the instructor rambled in his teaching, never got to a point and I left the seminar knowing for certain I had a cluttered life, but not knowing how to unclutter it.

Sadly, I’ve heard sermons that were evidently prepared by the same source! Psalm 119:165 tells us that those who love God’s law have great peace and that they do not live offended lives.

In this one verse we are given a formula for a peaceful, unoffended lifestyle and I’m going to give you the answer now! You must fall in love with God’s law.

This brings up another question. How do you fall in love with God’s law? The answer to this question is likewise very simple and basic. You must spend time in God’s Word.

You must know that God’s Word is true and that His Word is a benefit and not a curse and you must prove this through your willing acts of obedience to all His commands. Love is a decision. Decide now to love His law and peaceful living will be yours.

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them” (Ps. 119:165).
