We Will Be Like Him

by | A Verse A Day

“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.”

(1 John 3:2 NASB)

We are already God’s children now because we have believed on Jesus Christ. But notice, it is not yet clear what we shall truly become. That must mean that becoming a child of God isn’t the end, but the beginning. We aren’t a completed package yet.

The Message Bible says: “But friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him.”

When Jesus is revealed, we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He truly is. No more wondering, no more guessing. This isn’t just when He takes us to heaven. The more we truly see Him, day by day, the more we become like Him. Take advantage of your opportunity as a child of God now, and you will be like Him.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Now I am a child of God. The more I see Jesus, the more I become like Him. Cool!
