Why God Loves Us

“Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ”

(Rom. 8:35 NASB)



Can anything or anyone separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble from people or trouble from situations make God change how He feels about us? No! We are in a unique place in the heart of God. We are His sons and daughters.

The Message Bible says: Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture.

The truth is that none of these “things” can come between the love of Christ and us. But the awful reality is that we can separate our expectation from God’s love. We can believe a lie and feel we are unworthy of God’s love because of behavioral issues and evaluations based on self-inspection. The truth is God loves us and it has nothing to do with behavior but with belonging.

God loves me today and nothing will ever change that.
