In times of disaster they will not wither.
(Ps. 37:19)
Jesus mastered every disastrous situation He encountered. He spoke peace to raging seas and they became calm. When an angry crowd tried to hurl Him over a cliff, Jesus just passed through the people and went to the next town. No plan of the devil, no harm, could stop His purpose.
The apostle Paul found himself in a disastrous situation as well. In Acts 27:10 AMP, he warned the crew of the ship he was on that their voyage would be attended with “disaster and much heavy loss.”
It wasn’t long before a horrendous storm ensued. Paul then addressed the crew again, telling them that an angel had spoken to him, assuring him that there would be no loss of life.
Paul went on to say, “I have faith (complete confidence) in God that it will be exactly as it was told me” (v. 25).
Even though the storm wasn’t over, Paul’s faith-filled words restored hope and gave the men courage. Of course, God’s words came to pass, and His Word will come to pass in your life too.
Jesus deprived the world of power to harm us. Because of that, we can have cheerful, courageous faith like He did—even in the midst of disaster. If that is where you find yourself today, be of good cheer. It will not harm you and you will win! 1
Are you in the midst of a disaster? Find God’s Word regarding your situation, and hold on to it with cheerful courage, knowing that in the end, the storm will not harm you.
