Purified

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“(Jesus) Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

(Titus 2:14)

Jesus gave Himself on our behalf so that He might purchase our freedom for us. He had to solve the sin and separation problem that existed between God, who can’t accept any ungodliness in His presence, and us.

He fulfilled God’s plan for our redemption, by taking our place and dying on the cross, and thereby He made us free from all wrongdoing. He made for Himself a people unsoiled in heart.

The Message Bible says: “He offered himself as a sacrifice to free us from a dark, rebellious life into this good, pure life, making us a people he can be proud of, energetic in goodness.”

What God intended, when He invested the life of His Son for us, was that we would be made a people who should be exclusively His own. We should be eager and enthusiastic about living a life that is good and filled with helpful deeds. You see, Jesus purified us on purpose and for a purpose.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Jesus has freed my life from sin, purified me and called me to live solely for Him.
